Who wants to follow all the rules? Rebel at Work: How to Innovate and Drive Results When You Aren’t the Boss is a smart and sassy business book by Natalie Neelan, published by Tantor Audio, that I had so much fun narrating!

Neelan writes from an unconventional perspective, geared toward the employee rather than the executive. What I loved about Rebel at Work is that it’s a really fresh take that doesn’t just cover the same old ground in the same old way. Now, I’m a rebel too!

Releasing today on Audible and Amazon.com.

A New York Minute’s Glimpse into Audies 2018!

What an amazing time I had last week in New York as our audiobook community gathered for the APA Conference and celebrated the 23rd Annual Audie Awards at The New York Historical Society. It was such a special night catching up with dear friends and colleagues, and I so enjoyed the chance to make some new friends as well. I’m deeply grateful to be a part of this incredibly warm, generous, and loving community!

Congratulations to all of the 2018 Audie Award winners and nominees! What a joy it was to celebrate with you.

See you next time, New York!

The Covenantal Life – Now Available on Audio!

Excited to share the audiobook release of The Covenantal Life by Sarah Ivill published by Christian Audio.  This was an incredibly fascinating book that I so enjoyed working on!

In The Covenantal Life, Sarah Ivill  encourages us to delve deeper into covenant theology so that we can begin to get a firmer understanding of scripture and thus start to think more biblically as we face the various circumstances in our lives.  By applying these principles, Ivill suggests that we will then begin to more readily experience how the beauty of theology and community can transform our lives.

Beside Me Always – Now Available On Audio!

I am excited to celebrate with Judy Unger the audiobook release of her poignant memoir Beside Me Always  recorded at Studio City Sound and produced by Punch Audio.  I met Judy a year prior to recording her memoir and it’s been an absolute joy getting to know her and hearing how she was able to move past the pain and tragic loss of losing her young child to a severe congenital heart defect, to eventually being able to find joy and happiness once again through her love of music.

As a narrator, this was the first time I’ve experienced recording a book with the author sitting in on the recording session and it was a deeply moving experience for myself, Judy and our incredible engineer Jeff Ryon, as we traveled through the heartfelt pages of this intimate memoir.

Judy’s hope when she began writing Beside Me Always  was that her words and music would be able to comfort and uplift others who are also journeying through grief. I have no doubt that she achieved that goal. Judy’s music can be found at her website judyungermusic.com.

You can find Beside Me Always at audible.com.

“I loved listening to the magnificent narration of You, Fascinating You.” – Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews

youSo happy to share this wonderful review from Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews of YOU, FASCINATING YOU written by Germaine Shames, published by Pale Fire Press and produced by Punch Audio. This deeply moving book was truly an honor and joy to narrate.

“I enjoyed this book through the audio copy and it took my breath away. I loved just sitting back and listening to the magnificent narration of You, Fascinating You.” Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews

You can read the full review here.

You, Fascinating You is a WWII historical romance and follows the life of Hungarian ballerina, Margit Wolf. Margit is offered the chance to dance at La Scala and upon traveling to Italy she falls in love with Italian maestro, Pasquale Frustaci.  With the impending war, Jewish born Margit travels home to Budapest to be with her family, while Pasquale pines for her back in Italy. Twenty years pass before they are reunited. While awaiting Margit’s return, Pasquale composes Tu Solamente Tu which means You, Fascinating You. Pasquale’s love song to Margit catapulted to the top of the Hit Parade and earning its composer the moniker “the Italian Cole Porter”.

You, Fascinating You is now available at Audible and Amazon.com.

Audiobook Meets App Meets Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha!

pasted image 0

So excited to share the launch of a really cool new platform! I love audiobooks in the way we have come to know them, but this cutting-edge approach combines the best of audiobooks and mobile apps.

Hermann Hesse’s Siddhartha is the first of three literary classics to be launched this year on a new interactive platform—backed by an impressive array of entrepreneurs and an Emmy, Audie Finalist, BAFTA and Golden Reel award-winning cast. It was such a joy to be a part of this team and to narrate Siddhartha, alongside the talented Sean Pratt.

In the app, as you listen to the story, you can follow along with the text interactively in a platform that supports fonts optimized for dyslexic readers, while also enabling soothing background music, background imagery, sound effects, and even a guided meditation. Everything about the experience is designed to help even reluctant readers immerse themselves in books through audio and visual stimulation.

Go download the free app to see what I’m talking about and to experience Siddhartha in a whole new way!

1-2-3 Parenting with Heart – now available on Audio!

parentingheart

I so enjoyed narrating 1-2-3 Parenting with Heart  by Thomas W. Phelan, PhD and Chris Webb, published by Tantor Media. This incredibly helpful and informative book is packed full of great tips and suggestions to help guide parents into creating a calm and godly household while using a proven three-step discipline to lovingly care for their children.

One of my favorite aspects of 1-2-3 Parenting with Heart are the parent / child scenarios used to illustrate the ideas contained within.  One scenario, which still makes me smile, is when a six-year-old boy threatens to run away from home, packing a bag and walking out the front door. Five minutes later, this frustrated little boy returns to tell his parents that he can’t run away after all…because he’s not allowed to cross the street! A parenting win.

Now available on Amazon and at Audible.com!

Celebrations from 2017 and Cheers to 2018!

Wishing you a wonderful 2018 – may this new year be filled with much joy, laughter, good health and your deepest dreams coming true!  As I look back on 2017, I am so grateful for the many memories, opportunities and experiences that this year brought. Here are a few of the highlights:

As an audiobook narrator, 2017 began with much excitement and the tremendous honor of receiving a 2017 Audie Award nomination in the Young Adult Category for The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough, published by Scholastic Audio and produced by Deyan Audio. The year continued at an exhilarating pace with the opportunity to form new relationships with publishers, such as Tantor Media, Brilliance Audio and Recorded Books, along with many wonderful new authors, where I had the joy of narrating a wide variety of fascinating titles.

As an actor, three films that I had the pleasure of working on were screened around the world! 96 Souls, a sci-fi feature directed by Stanley Jacobs, in which I play a sympathetic shelter processor, acquired worldwide distribution and began it’s nationwide theatrical release on May 26th beginning at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills. Je Suis (i AM) a hard-hitting short film directed by Faith Strongheart made it’s theatrical debut this year at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival where it screened at the short film corner. Magdalene, a 1930s period piece film, directed by Rebecca Cremona, in which I play the lead and title character, screened in Malta this year at the Malta Film Expo!

On stage, I had the great joy of playing Regan in William Shakespeare’s King Lear directed by Tony Tanner at the T. U. Theatre. I was also thrilled to perform at UCLA this year as Phedre in Jean Racine’s Phedre directed by Dennis Gersten.

Farewell, 2017! It’s been an amazing year and one that I’m extremely thankful for.
