Celebrations from 2017 and Cheers to 2018!

Wishing you a wonderful 2018 – may this new year be filled with much joy, laughter, good health and your deepest dreams coming true!  As I look back on 2017, I am so grateful for the many memories, opportunities and experiences that this year brought. Here are a few of the highlights:

As an audiobook narrator, 2017 began with much excitement and the tremendous honor of receiving a 2017 Audie Award nomination in the Young Adult Category for The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough, published by Scholastic Audio and produced by Deyan Audio. The year continued at an exhilarating pace with the opportunity to form new relationships with publishers, such as Tantor Media, Brilliance Audio and Recorded Books, along with many wonderful new authors, where I had the joy of narrating a wide variety of fascinating titles.

As an actor, three films that I had the pleasure of working on were screened around the world! 96 Souls, a sci-fi feature directed by Stanley Jacobs, in which I play a sympathetic shelter processor, acquired worldwide distribution and began it’s nationwide theatrical release on May 26th beginning at the Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills. Je Suis (i AM) a hard-hitting short film directed by Faith Strongheart made it’s theatrical debut this year at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival where it screened at the short film corner. Magdalene, a 1930s period piece film, directed by Rebecca Cremona, in which I play the lead and title character, screened in Malta this year at the Malta Film Expo!

On stage, I had the great joy of playing Regan in William Shakespeare’s King Lear directed by Tony Tanner at the T. U. Theatre. I was also thrilled to perform at UCLA this year as Phedre in Jean Racine’s Phedre directed by Dennis Gersten.

Farewell, 2017! It’s been an amazing year and one that I’m extremely thankful for.

Am I Enough? This is a question most of us, I’m sure, have asked ourselves at one time or another. I was deeply moved narrating Michele Cushatt’s book I am: A 60 Day Journey to Knowing Who You Are Because of Who He Is published by Tantor Media. Cushatt shares her incredibly difficult journey where she experienced this question first hand, on a variety of painful levels.

At the age of 39, Michele was diagnosed with squamous-cell carcinoma of the tongue, or in layman’s terms, tongue cancer. After enduring a painful surgery to remove a portion of her tongue, Michele’s doctors thought that the cancer had been caught early and she could move forward with her life. Unfortunately, three years later, this cancer returned – twice. The result was an operation that removed two thirds of Michele’s tongue. She would never look, speak or be the same person again. Thus began her transparent journey from who she once thought she was, to who she now has become. Am I enough…now? Through this 60 day devotional, Michele leads us through and answers that question with a resounding Yes! With God, Yes – Yes, I am.

Drawing Lessons by Patricia Sands released this week on Audio and across all platforms!  I was deeply moved by this novel and thrilled to have had the opportunity to narrate Sand’s poignant story for Brilliance Audio.

I Just Want to See Trees – Now available on Audio!

So happy to celebrate the audiobook release of I Just Want to See Trees: A Journey Through P.T.S.D. written by Marc and Sonja Raciti and published by Healing Wounds. It was an immense honor and joy to be a part of this important story!

I Just Want to See Trees offers a very personal look into Marc’s own journey through P.T.S.D. as a veteran of the US Army.  Written with the hope that by sharing his story, other veterans and individuals struggling with P.T.S.D. will be inspired and encouraged to also seek help, so they too can make it across the abyss and find healing and restoration.

Just released from Audible Studios!  The Girls Who Saw Everything  by Sean Dixon is a fascinating, deeply layered book that I had so much fun narrating!

Being from Canada myself, it was especially cool to return to my Canadian roots and get to know the many diverse characters that make up Dixon’s Lacuna Cabal Montreal Young Woman’s Book Club. And this is no ordinary book club! When the members of this club read a book…well…let’s just say they don’t just sit around a table and discuss the contents. These young ‘women’ bring to life each of the books on their reading list by acting them out.  When they happen across the Epic of Gilgamesh, however, things take a powerful turn as they realize that this particular book is beginning to enact them instead. What follows, is an unforgettable journey to the other side of the world that ultimately changes the course of their lives.
