9 little liars thought they’d escape…find out if they did… IN THE DARK – now on Audio!

A remote bay in the interior of British Columbia, Canada. A secluded mountain lodge.  Nine people brought together again…each with a deadly secret… each with something to hide. Only one will make it out …or will they?

IN THE DARK written by the incredibly talented Loreth Anne White, released this week on Audio! Published by the wonderful team at Brilliance Publishing, I had so much fun narrating this riveting, closed circle/locked room mystery!

Based on Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None, we begin with 9 people who all share a common secret from the past, a moment that has haunted each of them in their own way for the past fourteen years. White, immediately ups the ante as one guest meets their fate early on, while the remaining eight are transported by a de Havilland Beaver MK1 aircraft to an isolated part of Kluhane Bay in northern BC. The guests are to stay at … what they believe is an all-expenses-paid luxury getaway at the Forest Shadow Wilderness Resort & Spa.

Once the guests arrive at the lodge, the mood suddenly shifts and White’s vivid words transport us into a world where nothing is as it seems. We are immediately immersed into a dark, moody, haunting atmosphere where upon entering the lodge, a riddle is uncovered… with eight figurines.  The guests begin to sense that something… isn’t quite right …

What was especially exciting about narrating In The Dark, aside from the fact that I am originally from British Columbia, is that the author shifts time periods throughout the book, traversing between events taking place among the guests at the lodge over a ten day period and the present day search and rescue team trying desperately to find them. White also employs a switching of perspectives, so we are able to see into the slow unraveling of each of the guests’ minds, as the mask of each character is pealed back to reveal the dark and ugly secrets hidden underneath. As each guest begins to spiral out of control, we see how their hand also played a part in this sinister game of revenge.

“For in the end there can only be one. But maybe . . . there shall be none”

An Ice Road, a Body and an Unsolved Murder: THE STRANGER ON THE ICE Releases Today!

A frozen body appears on an ice road, a unsolved murder beckons from the past, and a friend mysteriously disappears as darkness swirls around the town of Inuvik, Canada. The Stranger on the Ice  by Bernadette Calonego (translated by Gerald Chapple) is a riveting tale of mystery and romance that was absolutely thrilling to record. Many thanks to Brilliance Audio for the opportunity to narrate this exciting book, and to a very generous language teacher named Anna (a resident of Inuvik), who gave her time to help me with the many Inuvialuit words in the book.

The Stranger on the Ice releases today in Audio and Print.
