Song of Fire, Strength of Love! I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the audiobook and print release today of DIVIDED FIRE written by Jennifer San Filippo. I had so much fun co-narrating this exciting new YA Fantasy, alongside the awesome Brittany Pressley and published by the wonderful team at HMH Audio.

In this rich fantasy world, magic expresses itself through song. One of the many things I love about this book is the use of sign language. In Divided Fire, the gift of song appears in a person at a young age, and if they are deemed a singer, they are no longer able to use their voice to speak, and instead must sign in order to communicate.  With this gift, their voice is used through song to control the world around them with magical ability over one of the elements, either – fire, water, air or earth. 

In Divided Fire, I play Miren, who is separated unexpectedly from her younger sister Kesia when pirates invade their small fishing town. Because Kesia is one of a few remaining Fire Singers left, she is taken against her will. Miren, who doesn’t have the gift of song, but has a sharp mind and unrelenting spirit, vows to find Kesia and bring her home. Throughout Divided Fire, these two sisters journey through a war-torn world, across sea and land, amidst unexpected friends & enemies alike, and learn just how strong their bond of sisterly love truly is, as they fight against all odds to find their way back to each other.
