Searching for Glory in the Everyday Grime

51qHuxIddvL._AA300_Is it really possible to find glory in the everyday circumstances of our lives? I had the great pleasure of narrating Finding God at the Kitchen Sink: Search for Glory in the Everyday Grime for Christianaudio in which author, Maggie Paulus, shows us how to do just that!

Through her inspiring down-to-earth stories and reflections, Maggie Paulus gently walks us through her everyday encounters with God in an effort to demonstrate just how much God wants to meet you right where you are, no matter what your circumstance, no matter where you are in your life, no matter how badly you may have messed up.  Even at a kitchen sink full of grimy dishes – God is there.

Finding God at the Kitchen Sink: Search for Glory in the Everyday Grime is now available in audiobook format at Christianaudio.com, Amazon and Audible.com

She is running for her life. He has run from his life. Meet Nancy & Jake in – The Cabin!

61r1TBYRXaL._SL300_

It’s 1930 and the Sierra Nevada Mountains are home to a town of renegade Mormons.  On Nancy’s 18th birthday, her father tells her she has to marry her cousin Abner, who already has 3 wives. Nancy refuses and runs away, spending a fearful night in the woods until she stumbles upon what will ultimately change her life –  THE CABIN

Today is the audiobook release day for The Cabin, book 3 of the Manhattan Stories, by Donna Mabry!  I’ve had so much fun narrating this series for Dreamscape Media. Part of the joy for me, has been getting to know these wonderfully drawn characters that Donna Mabry has so beautifully created, and then having the opportunity to travel through the generations with each of them. From Jessica, to Pillsbury Crossing to The Cabin. It’s been an incredible journey that I won’t soon forget.

The Cabin is now available on Audible.com and at Amazon!

Stepping on stage this weekend as Liz, the First of England

tumblr_lw3y7oYMnC1qdwkdyo1_500I’m excited to take a Queenly  step back on stage this weekend as Liz, the First of England in a staged reading of new play, Three Elizabeths, written by the incredibly talented, Tony-nominated Theatre Director and Choreographer, Tony Tanner.

The premise of this piece is so unique, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the audience reacts. Elizabeth the First, in three different stages of her life. Three different actresses on stage at the same time – Elizabeth the younger, Elizabeth the Queen, Elizabeth the Dowager.  Figures from their past re-emerge and interact with them.

This coming Sunday, Sept. 6th at the Studio Stage Theatre in Hollywood at 1pm.  Hope to see you there!

Hope That Glows In The Dark

And to those who let us see their scars

so others can discover Hope’s hideout” – Cynthia Ruchti

It was such a joy to narrate this collection of beautifully written, poignant stories by Cynthia Ruchti.  Ragged Hope: Surviving the Fallout of Other People’s Choices follows 25 individuals who share their true story of how they found the strength, courage and resolve to survive the aftermath of other people’s choices.

I recorded this book, along with the very talented Alex Hyde-White, and each time I came to one of the stories that I would be reading, I was deeply impacted by how I was also being encouraged, uplifted and moved by the soothing balm that each of these pages contained. Throughout this book, Cynthia Ruchti lovingly illustrates God’s healing power and His ability to meet each of us right where we are – no matter what our circumstance, or how ragged or tattered our hope may be.

                                                                 And hope does not disappoint.

A Magical Night, An Amazing Month & A New Series

Susan at the 2015 AudiesI can’t believe that the 2015 Audie Awards took place a month ago already! Such an incredible evening and one I won’t soon forget. I was elated to be both a nominee this year for STARS and also deeply honored to be asked to present at the 2015 Audie Award Ceremony.  Our host, author Jack Gantos, was an absolute delight and so much fun to play off of during the ceremony.  My heartfelt thanks to Skyboat Media, Audible Studios and to the Audio Publisher’s Association for such a magical night!

It’s been an amazing month since returning from New York!  I’ve been busy with a new series that I’m narrating for Dreamscape Media.  It’s been great fun and I’m truly loving every minute. I will share more about this captivating book series, soon!

The Four Freedoms and a Short

For the past few weeks I’ve been working on, what I believe, is going to become a very powerful short film.  In this short, I play the CEO & Owner of a successful advertising agency.  The subject matter, while I’m not able to say too much yet, is incredibly vital and relevant to our current society and is inspired by true events.  I am humbled to have been on a project such as this.

Our outstanding director, Faith Strongheart, assembled an exceptional cast & crew to bring this difficult story to life.  In addition, Faith and our wonderful producer, Michelle Brattson, brought on the skills of a top-notch stunt coordinator for our last day of shooting, as we had some very intricate scenes to capture.

Our stunt coordinator and his team were absolutely amazing!  I definitely have a new appreciation for the work that these folks do.  Wow.  As our stunt team walked us through the choreography, I was immediately reminded how even a tiny, tiny choreographed move needs to be so carefully approached and executed in order to avoid injury.

As always, I am ever so thankful when I have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated, talented and supportive cast & crew and such was the case with this current film.  I will update again soon, once I’m able to say more.
